DX Forum Post: New pics of CMC ‘64 Porsche 901

1964 was the first production year of many for the 911, its original moniker being that of 901. Since 901 was later to be found already in use by another car manufacturer, Porsche changed it to the now wildly popular 911 model. It sported a 6 cylinder air-cooler aluminum cylinder engine (producing 130 horsepower), linked to a Synchromesh 5-speed manual transmission. An odd option for those in the cold was a separate gasoline heater to boost the temperature of the interior. Its curvey safety-glass windshield was certainly not common on most cars of the time!
