"Mad Max 2 : The Road Warrior" Interceptor Diecast

autoart mad max road warrior interceptorBeginning life as an Australian 1973 Ford Falcon XB GT Coupe, eccentric auto designer Peter Arcadipane modified the front, the roof spoiler, the boot spoiler and the flares to come up with the black police Interceptor for use in the 1981 film 'Mad Max 2 : The Road Warrior' by Director George Miller and starring Mel Gibson. In this installment of one of the greatest action trilogies ever, Max is travelling in a post-apocalypse Australia where gasoline is the most valuable commodity. He becomes involved in a struggle between bandits and a town that has built defenses around a small refinery. He must cross the "no man's land" several times to allow a dash for freedom, pursued by the bandits in their vehicles. According to the Amazon.com review, 'Mad Max 2 : The Road Warrior' is "a strong candidate for the designation of most thrilling action movie ever made (the turbo-charged exhilaration of its full-throttle highway chases has never been equaled), the second part of George Miller's post-apocalyptic trilogy is also a magnificently imagined movie myth."

Diecast model collectors of entertainment genre movie cars will be delighted to know that Gateway Global, maker of AUTOart diecast model cars, has announced development of a 1/18 scale model of the Black Interceptor (AUTOart Diecast No. 72745). The model will include all accessories (gas cans, spare tire, explosives, etc.) and even an Australian Cattle Dog figure of Max's aptly named faithful companion "Dog." Expect availability before Christmas in early December 2007 with a street price right around $100. Two thumbs up for this original diecast model release from AUTOart!
