Art Sketches Available from Auto Designer Chip Foose
Chip Foose might be the most well-known automotive designer of this generation and his awards and acclaim continue to reflect his visionary talent. You've probably seen his method of conceptualizing on the hit TV show 'Overhaulin.' Chip's drawing technique results in sketches that might act as a design blueprint, but also double as artwork. On the Chip Foose Design website you can purchase high quality prints of his original sketches. They look fantastic in any setting and come professionally packed in a protective tube at 11"x14" in a matte cover finish for $15-$20. With a nice, cheap frame, you have art! You'll also find other products that make nice gifts in their store, including exclusive 1/18 scale diecast models of Foose-designed cars.
America's Most Popular Trucks By Highway 61
Reliable performance and staunch durability made the 1972 Chevy Pickup a favorite at work on the farm or construction site. The first-class Chevrolet pickup trucks from 1967 to 1970 were known as the CST or Custom Sport Truck. This changed in '71 when they used the new term Cheyenne for the nicest vinyl interior and best wood-grain trim package. By 1972, an even more oppulent interior option was offered and named the 'Cheyenne Super' package. It included a nylon seat cover with svelte vinyl edging. A chrome “Super” emblem was attached to the fenders under the Cheyenne nameplate and on the glove box door. The 1972 GMC top of the line counterpart was the Sierra Grande and is identical in most respects to the Chevy 'Cheyenne Super'. During 1972, a special Chevrolet promotional pickup was introduced and designated as the “Highlander”. It did not have side emblems or related nameplates that would cause people to remember this unique model. GM only listed the word Highlander on the inside glove box door ID sheet.
It's no wonder so many consider this era of pickup truck to be the best looking ever. That's why we're especially excited about the forthcoming release of three Chevy pickups from Highway 61 in 1/18 scale. Expected no later than mid-July will be the 1972 Cheyenne C10 in Medium Blue (Highway 61 Diecast Model No. 50560 - pictured above), 1969 Chevy C10 Pickup in Red with White trim (Highway 61 Diecast Model No. 50559), and 1967 Chevy Pickup in Custom Metallic Red (Highway 61 Diecast Model No. 50561). All previous Cheyenne diecast models from Highway 61 have been hot sellers and this assortment should be even hotter considering the authentic color configurations. As with other current Highway 61 pricing patterns, you can expect the cost to be around $60 at most internet diecast retailers and pre-orders won't be a bad idea.

AUTOart Delivers Unique & Original 1972 Lancia Rally Car
The year 1972 saw the Lancia Fulvia HF 1600 set itself apart from other rally cars, beginning the season with a win at the prestigious Rally of Montecarlo against the Alpine Renault models by Sandro Munari and Mario Mannucci, with a repeat win at Sicily. On October 22, the Sanremo rally started with a bang and ended with the Lancia Fulvia HF 1600 taking the first two spots and the Fiat team following in places three thorugh five; Amilcare Ballestrieri and Arnaldo Bernacchini as winners in 45 minutes 9 seconds and Sergio Barbasio and Pierro Sodano taking 2nd place in a time of 48 minutes 51 seconds. This was also the first time that the livery coloration changed, taking on the colors of sponsor Marlboro. The 1972 WRC International Makes Championship ended with the Lancia team clearly on top with 97 points, compared to only 55 points for the Fiat 124 Spider team who enjoyed resounding victories at both the Austrian Alps and Acropolis Rally races by drivers Haken Lindberg and Helmut Eisendle.
AUTOart has faithfully reproduced the winning car in 1/18 diecast (AUTOart Stock No. 87219 - pictured above). Expected delivery is July, 2007 and street price should be about $90. The Lancia Fulvia 1.6 HF diecast model car will be offered under the AUTOart Racing product line in a Limited Edition run and impressive packaging. A dominant race car with stunning colors and rich history, this '72 Lancia diecast piece will surely add character to the Rally afficianado's collection or make a fantastic gift. 'Speedracer' Movie Set to Debut in 2008
Filming begins this week on the movie adaptation of the famous Japanese animation "Speedracer" and we found an article from USA Today about the new movie. The remake also marks the return of Andy and Larry Wachowski, the brothers who directed 'The Matrix' trilogy. They might be using a real monkey to play the part of Chim Chim, but the car will not see pavement as most effects will be computer-generated. Rumor has it that Jada Toys is working on the diecast model car from the movie and that it will be release around the time of the movie in May, 2008!
